Brainstorm Aston 3D Combines Real-time 3D Graphics & Playout
Brainstorm acquired the Aston brand in 2009, a real-time character generator with over 30 years of market experience, recognised for its graphics capabilities, simplicity of use and reliability. With the development of Aston 3D as a new platform, Brainstorm has employed its eStudio render engine to support very fast, versatile real-time 3D graphics creation, CG and playout.

Aston 3D is a scalable on-air graphics generator designed to cover live broadcast content creation requirements from stand-alone OB solutions to complex, integrated system projects. MOS compatible and dual channel ready, the Aston 3D integrates directly with newsroom systems, video servers, NLEs and other 3rd party applications to quickly produce graphics. It focuses on fast turnaround news and sports environments, but also handles branding, finance, weather, elections, game shows and other graphics intense real-time on-air programs.

With Aston 3D, Brainstorm also intends to bring 20 years of development of real-time 3D graphics to a wider customer base. The new GUI, for example, blends the Aston user experience with eStudio's power and range of tools. Aston 3D is a graphics creation system suited to design and content creation for broadcasters, service providers, production companies and program makers.

Aston 3D products include a graphics creation, CG and playout system, a 3D Designer module and interface, and 3D Player with full screen real-time rendering in SD and HDTV. Aston 3D supports object-based 3D and 2D graphics creation and is resolution independent allowing custom resolutions for graphics.

It has built-in effects libraries including particles and Bezier 2D and 3D curves, plus objects, primitives, textures and shader libraries. Multiple 3D effects are assignable to objects, and 2D and 3D primitive-based modelling includes multiple textures and bump mapping.
