Nevion Expands Digital Terrestrial Television Through Europe |
|
Nevion has recently completed several customised DVB-T/T2 installations across Europe. The structure and regional resources of Nevion’s merger with T-VIPS, specialists in HD and SD video transport on IP will support these digital terrestrial television deployments in Europe and the rest of the world. DVB-T, Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial, is the DVB European-based consortium standard for the broadcast transmission of digital terrestrial television, DTT. The standard was first published in 1997 and first broadcast in 1998 in the UK. This system transmits compressed digital audio, digital video and other data in an MPEG transport stream using coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing modulation. |

According to Nevion these customised digital terrestrial systems allow customers at any location to take advantage of new revenue opportunities by optimising their bandwidth. The optimisations are fairly easily deployed and can deliver high quality transmissions with low risk and good reliability. Nevion's DVB-T and T2 systems can be customised to fit customer requirements for regional content, distribution and network planning. Nevion has recently supplied multi-product installations for mainstream network infrastructure providers such as Teracom Denmark, Teracom Sweden, Finnish telecommunications companies Digita and DNA, the Austrian Broadcasting Services, communications infrastructure and media services company Arqiva in the UK, and some broadcast operators in Belarus, Croatia, Estonia and Russia. Nevion supplied a T2-Lite system for Open Channel in Copenhagen demonstrating future developments for broadcasting of TV and radio to mobile receivers. Nevion’s DVB-T2 suite can be used to develop flexible, robust digital systems for rapidly changing media environments. It includes DVB-T2 Gateway network control, which comprises HD content delivery, switching and monitoring functions, insertion and management of local content, plus intuitive user interfaces. These work with cProcessor transport stream processing and multiplexing products, the nSure portfolio for in-service monitoring and the management systems. Aiming to continue extending its digital terrestrial broadcasting portfolio, Nevion also provides expertise and products for ATSC and ISDB-T systems. www.nevion.com |
