Quantel Integrates Loudness Metering from NUGEN VisLM
Loudness has attracted interest in recent years as standards bodies around the world introduce mandatory loudness specifications for broadcast programming. NUGEN Audio creates audio tools for music producers, post-production engineers and broadcasters, including audio analysis, loudness metering, mixing/mastering, and tracking. VisLM software is a means to measure, compare and contrast loudness during post-production, compliant with ITU, ATSC and EBU standards. The application has functions for detailed, objective loudness measurement, history and loggin, and the VisLM loudness meter carries out realtime metering and a faster-than-realtime analysis mode.

Following a development partnership VisLM now integrates into the Quantel editing and finishing workspace, allowing the user to monitor audio loudness compliance directly. This means that no new workflows have to be developed and an editor can work as usual. The main VisLM functions available on the Quantel desktop include True-Peak level metering, Loudness Range, Momentary 'instantaneous loudness' for mixing by ear, Short term loudness and Program Loudness.
