Filters! Camera Application for iOS Applies Effects Before Capture |
| Filters! is a camera app for iOS made by Formatt-Hitech, a UK manufacturer of photographic and cinematic filters. It allows the photographer to apply filters before making an exposure, to avoid making adjustments to the actual image at pixel level. Filters! improves the iOS camera by allowing the photographer control over focus, exposure, zoom and other variables. Filters! includes numerous filter effects, and is also integrated with social media services including auto-upload. |

Most cameras for iOS are post-capture image processors that limit the user to capturing the image with the iPhone camera app and altering it later to varying degrees. Filters! is effectively an upgraded camera for the iPhone and works as a first step in image processing. Filters! captures images at a high enough quality to form a base for post-processing. Because effects are applied before capture, it saves adjustments and effects after the image is capturedl. Filters! has a tap-to-focus function allowing the user to choose their focal point. For the Hold to Expose tool, the user holds and drags their finger to the desired area of the image to adjust the exposure. To expose for a bright sky or dark foliage, for example, you drag your finger over these elements in the composition. |

Filters! contains a large number of effects, from professional tools such as graduated filters and calibrated black & white filters, to creative effects. Photographers can use the filters as problem solving tools such as balancing bright sky to dark terrain for landscape shots. Filters! also has a calibrated set of black and white filters to improve skin tones, darken skies and enhance the overall contrast. Filters! allows the use of an iPhone as a black and white camera. Filters! includes the ability to either manually or automatically upload images to Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. Other social networks will be added shortly in a free update. www.formatt.co.uk |
