The HP Z1’s 27-inch diagonal LED display snaps open so users can swap out parts, make upgrades or access the graphics card without tools. The display supports over 1 billion colours and has a 178° viewing angle and an in-plane switching, or IPS, panel with dual-cone speakers and SRS Premium Sound. A HD webcam supports face-to-face meetings and captures HD video. Performance is accelerated with Intel Xeon processors, NVIDIA Quadro graphics card and ECC memory, tested for use with Adobe, AutoDesk and AVID software. The new eight-core Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 family has up to 512GB of DDR3 memory and supports multithreaded workstation applications. The new processors include Intel vPro integrated memory controllers and Intel Turbo Boost. This performance can also be accessed when working remotely.

Available storage types include 7.2K and 10K SATA, SSD, optional RAID configurations, removable drives (AMO), a multiformat media card reader and optical drives including a slot-load Blu-ray Writer. A consolidated report of the workstation’s hardware and software configuration is supplied that can be used to tune the product for specific application workloads. The new HP Z820, Z620 and Z420 workstations are also built on the PCI Express system, integrating new graphics cards and designed for compute-intensive visualisation, CAD, video and animation. The HP Z820 provides up to 16 processing cores, up to 512 GB of ECC memory, up to 14 TB of high-speed storage and up to dual NVIDIA Quadro 6000 graphics.

For quieter environments with minimal space, the HP Z620 has been updated to support single- and dual-socket processors, up to 16 processing cores, up to 96 GB of ECC memory, up to 11 TB of high-speed storage and 2D and 3D graphics with NVIDIA Quadro 6000 or dual NVIDIA Quadro 5000 graphics. The HP Z420 suits mainstream computing and visualisation for CAD, architecture, video editing and photography, including up to eight processing cores using Intel Xeon E5-1600 and E5-2600 processors. These chips provide up to 64 GB of ECC memory, up to 11 TB of high-speed storage and NVIDIA Quadro 5000 or dual NVIDIA Quadro 2000 graphics. The new HP Z Workstations maintain quiet acoustics and include 90 per cent energy efficient power supplies, which reduces both overall energy usage and the amount of waste heat released. The new HP Z Series Workstations will be available in Australia starting in early April 2012. Pricing starts at AU$2499 including GST for the new HP Z1 AiO Workstation, AU$2399 including GST for the HP Z420 Workstation, AU$3299 including GST for the HP Z620 Workstation and AU$3999 including GST for the HP Z820 Workstation. www.hp.com.au
