As direct-attached storage, the T8 is qualified for multi-stream HD or 2K DPX applications and will also serve as expansion and supplemental storage for TerraBlock products, Facilis’ SAN line.

TerraBlock provides shared storage for applications requiring high bandwidth access to video and audio files. It is compatible with most applications that can use a local SCSI drive. TerraBlock suits Mac and PC systems running, for example, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, Symphony, ProTools and graphics workstations with After Effects and Photoshop. The bandwidth can handle HD stereo 3D and 2K files. The drives appear as network drives, which allow read-write access for both Mac and PC users, simultaneously. Users can also share projects in a Unity-like system. Using project sharing in FCP, a facility has access from the FCP finishing room to a colour suite, with RAID 5 protection.

The new SAS-attached T8 can reach upwards of 700MB per second throughput, and supports multi-stream HD and 2K DI workflows. Capacity may be expanded through the Facilis shared file system. It includes self-contained RAID processing and recovery and has out-of-the-box support for Windows, Linux and Mac.
